CÆA Mission Statement

The primary purpose of the Connecticut Art Education Association shall be to support, advance, encourage, improve, and stimulate the quality of visual arts education in the state of Connecticut.

6 Statewide Priorities for Arts Education

Advocacy       

CAEA will continue to advocate for quality art education by:     

• CAEA will recruit members to work on various aspects of the Advocacy Committee.
• The Advocacy Committee of CAEA will develop a mission statement.
• The Advocacy Committee of CAEA will advocate for the reinstatement of a full time visual arts consultant at the Connecticut State Department of Education.
• CAEA will continue to work with CMEA through a lobbyist to pass a bill that will require high school students to have one full credit in the arts in order to graduate
• CAEA will continue to invite the Commissioner of Education and/or her representative to a variety of events.
• CAEA will define and create content for an advocacy component as part of the CAEA website for members use.
• CAEA will work with other State Art Education Associations in Team East on expanding advocacy regionally.

 Student Exhibits

    CAEA will continue to sponsor and support student exhibits (including Scholastics and YAC):

• CAEA will investigate sponsorship of an All-State Art exhibit.

Professional Development

      CAEA will continue to offer professional development opportunities to its members:

• CAEA will work to be financially solvent through the conference process while still offering a quality professional development opportunity
• CAEA will continue to use and refine Fall online registration, through Activa, for the Fall Conference.
• Fall registration packets are to be mailed by August 30

Internal Communications

         CAEA will continue to provide ways to communicate information to its members:

• A list of Best Mentor teachers will be available on the website
• Membership brochures will be re-designed and be available to download from the website
• Visions will continue to investigate ways to simplify production, meet dead lines and add more staff
• CAEA will promote and support SCSU and CCSU student involvement and membership in our professional organization.
