The Alternative Vehicular Design Program and Classes

Students of the Alternative Vehicular Design program at Farmington High School come to understand that an increasingly larger segment of the automotive industry is reliant on cutting-edge technology and the future of the automobile is embracing high-efficiency and alternative energy vehicles. Through the development of alternative energy vehicles we focus and strive for innovation in seven standard areas: energy sources, power train conversion, suspension, chassis, steering, brakes, and body construction and conversion.

It is our focus, through application of theory and practical problem solving, that students develop alternative energy designs, fabricate lightweight materials through technical practices, procedures, and processes, to make vehicles viable for competition and ultimately the road.
